The Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster, Rebecca Nyandeng, expressed her warm welcome to the commencement of school meal programs initiated by World Vision and the World Food Programme (WFP) in primary schools, marking a significant step towards enhancing primary education in South Sudan. The launch took place at Dr. John Garang Primary School in New Side, Juba.

This laudable initiative, funded by World Vision and WFP, aims to bolster primary education across the ten states and three administrative areas of the nation under the theme “End Child Hunger Now.”

In her pivotal address, Rebecca Nyandeng underscored the importance of ensuring inclusive education for all children in South Sudan. She emphasized the critical link between education and nutrition, highlighting that the introduction of school meal programs in primary schools is poised to eradicate child hunger throughout educational institutions in the country.

Nyandeng urged school pupils to actively participate in home gardening activities to combat food insecurity at the household level, thereby mitigating the risk of malnutrition prevailing within the nation.

The event, which was organized by World Vision South Sudan, the World Food Programme South Sudan, and other partners, served as a platform for communities to come together and express their gratitude towards the organizations for their unwavering support towards school children in South Sudan, enabling them to pursue their studies and fostering a brighter future for the youth of the nation.
